Stop Drinking Safely at Home

Our alcohol home detox program provides safe, personalised medical support to help you withdraw from alcohol at home in the comfort and privacy of your own space.

Care is delivered through daily doctor-led medical reviews, clear guidance, and medication when clinically appropriate. Each program is tailored to your physical and mental health needs and includes a personalised aftercare plan with 12 months of clinical reviews to support long-term recovery.

This service is designed for people with alcohol dependence and experience withdrawals. It is not suitable for occasional or social drinking.

Who Is an Alcohol Home Detox Right For?

Our doctor-led alcohol home detox program is designed for people who want to stop drinking alcohol safely at home, without needing to attend hospital or a residential facility. You may benefit from this service if you:

  • Drink alcohol most days or find it difficult to cut back without support
  • Experience withdrawal symptoms such as shakes, sweats, anxiety, nausea, or poor sleep when not drinking
  • Are concerned alcohol use is affecting your health, work, or relationships
  • Prefer the privacy and comfort of home-based medical care
  • Need a flexible program that fits around family or work commitments

You do not need a referral. Contact us for a confidential discussion to determine whether a home detox for alcohol is safe and appropriate for you.

Eligibility for an Alcohol Home Detox

Ensuring home-based alcohol withdrawal is safe and appropriate

Our alcohol home detox program is designed for people who can safely complete alcohol withdrawal at home with medical support. To be eligible, you must:

  • Be dependant on alcohol dependence or experience withdrawal symptoms when not drinking
  • Have a reliable support person who can stay with you during the seven-day detox period
  • Be medically suitable for home-based care following a confidential assessment
  • Be willing to engage in daily doctor-led medical reviews and follow clinical guidance

A support person is usually a trusted family member or close friend. They do not need medical training, their role is to provide reassurance, observe for changes, and contact our team if any concerns arise.

When a Home Detox May Not Be Suitable

In some situations, alcohol withdrawal is safer in a hospital or inpatient setting. A home detox may not be appropriate if you:

  • Have a history of severe alcohol withdrawal, seizures, or delirium tremens (DTs)
  • Have uncontrolled medical or psychiatric conditions
  • Do not have a support person available during the detox period

A confidential medical assessment is completed before starting to ensure the safest care pathway for you.
