Why We Created Our Home Detox Service

Having worked in emergency departments and drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres, Dr Siu couldn’t ignore the crucial missing elements in traditional hospital settings — comfort, personal attention, and tailored treatments, all essential for those bravely battling substance abuse. This realisation fuelled his vision for a patient-centric approach to recovery, one that would allow people to reclaim their lives and maintain complete discretion within the comfort and privacy of their own homes. And so, AIR (Addiction In-Home Recovery) was born — a personalised, in-home alcohol detoxification service, the pivotal first step to treating alcohol dependence.

We first launched our alcohol home detox service on the Gold Coast, and with the recent launch of our telehealth detox program, we are now able to treat people all over Australia.

Your Doctor

Dr Hok Yee Siu, Medical Director

Hok is a GP and fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He was born and trained in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh. He has a special interest in alcohol and other drug detoxification and emergency medicine. He founded AIR Detox with his beautiful wife Catriona; their vision is to expand this service nationwide as a social enterprise. When not working, Hok will be spending time with his young family outdoors or playing football, tennis and golf.
