There are so many great online counselling and courses to help those battling with addiction it can sometimes be overwhelming and difficult to know where to start. Below is a list of free resources to get you started on your journey to recovery.
Counselling Online
Counselling Online is a free, confidential service that provides 24/7 support for people affected by alcohol or drug use across Australia. They provide a range of services, including: 150
- Online counselling: speak to a qualified drug and alcohol counsellor anytime anywhere, available 24/7
- SMS support: a free, 28-day SMS program designed to motivate, inspire and provide tips when you need it. You can sign up for 1 or 2 messages per day and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Self-help modules: developed by professional addiction clinicians, you can work through these modules at your own pace
- Self-assessments: useful tools to understand your current situation, reflect on progress and help with what to do next
- Online forums: a non-judgemental, welcoming and safe way to connect with others who get what you are going through.
MindSpot
MindSpot supports Australian adults experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and chronic pain. All of their services are free, confidential, and online, and provide optional access to qualified therapists. You complete an online assessment and are presented with their recommendations. You can either select an online treatment course or Teletherapy sessions.
This Way Up
This Way Up develop, test, and release scientifically-based online programs that help treat anxiety and related mental health conditions. All of their programs are based on the clinically-proven Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Online Clinic by Black Dog Institute
The Online Clinic takes you through a range of clinical assessments for common mental health conditions. At the end you will receive a personalised report with suggested support services and free or low-cost resources for you to access. This report can be downloaded, printed or emailed to share with your family or doctor.
Family & Friend Support Programs
The Family and Friend Support Programs are a set of online interventions and support packages designed by experts to help families and friends supporting a loved one who may be using ice, alcohol and/or other drugs. They also offer information and support for people who may be experiencing domestic and family violence, as well as people who are living in rural or remote regions.
Mensline Australia
MensLine Australia is a free telephone and online counselling service offering support for Australian men anywhere, anytime.
