At Addiction In-home Recovery (AIR Detox), we want to make it easier for people to access addiction services on the Gold Coast. Long wait lists, expensive treatment options and the stigma surrounding drug and alcohol addiction present huge barriers to those wanting to seek help.

Our program enables people to safely and discreetly detox from alcohol or cannabis at home. By bringing the care to you, organising your recovery becomes a lot simpler and far less daunting. With no wait times, you can start your recovery when you’re ready, all within the comfort and privacy of your own home.

Why we started a home detox program

Needing to leave home to receive treatment stops many people from seeking help for alcohol or cannabis use.

For some, it is just not a practical option. Looking after your children, pets, and continuing to work makes entering an inpatient facility near impossible. Furthermore, the stress of leaving home and your loved ones can make things seem all too hard. Many people do not want others to know they are seeking help or be around people they don’t know.

Cost is another huge barrier to accessing care which puts many treatment options out of reach. Many services also have long waiting lists so you can’t even access treatment when you need to.

This is why we started AIR Detox. We want people to be able to quickly access affordable, quality care for drug and alcohol use from the comfort and privacy of their own home. If you can beat it at home, you can beat it anywhere.

Our service is currently available to those who can stay on the Gold Coast during the seven-day detox. We hope to expand our service to surrounding areas soon, so please get in touch if you would like to detox at home from alcohol or cannabis.

Your Doctor

Dr Hok Yee Siu, Medical Director

Hok is a GP and fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He was born and trained in Scotland at the University of Edinburgh. He has a special interest in alcohol and other drug detoxification and emergency medicine. He founded AIR Detox with his beautiful wife Catriona; their vision is to expand this service nationwide as a social enterprise. When not working, Hok will be spending time with his young family outdoors or playing football, tennis and golf.
